A day in Grand Central Terminal and Top of the Rock
My family and I enjoy road trips very much. This summer we started our road trip in Washington, DC, then drove to Brooklyn, NYC, Niagara Falls, Toronto Canada, and then back to NYC where we flew back home to Austin, TX.
This post is a photo essay about one of my favorite days in New York City.
We started the day as we always do, looking for what to do and where to go. As much as we plan to schedule, must of our decisions about places to visit and things to do we do on the spot.
Grand Central Terminal, this is a beautiful and historic building as much as it is functional. The terminal has 44 platforms and 67 tracks, 750,000 visitors pass through daily.
Like any good tourist, we spend some time taking photos and walking around. It was a surprise to me to find at this place what it is the largest Apple store I’ve visited so far. Also, I wasn’t aware of all the shops and restaurants around on the hallways and down in a basement.

Our next stop was at the Top of the Rock at the Rockefeller Center. Top of the Rock is a great spot to access excellent views of Manhattan. You can see the iconic Empire Building and the Statue of Liberty (far away) on one side and Central Park on the other side.
As we were coming out of the elevator in our way out of the building, we spotted this picture on the wall. Of course, we had to take a family picture there!
The Rockefeller Center is a great place to visit; there are shops and restaurants all around it, a plaza that gets converted into an ice ring on winter and just across the street there is also an epic while small Lego store.
That same day we walked to Central Park, we didn’t get into the park but visited one of New York City’s landmarks, the Plaza Hotel. We got some ice cream and rested there for a bit, escaping from the hot New York City summer.
Here is a photo I took while riding a ferry back to a hotel across the Hudson River where we spent two nights and had an excellent view of the city.
It was a perfect day!
