Optimistic for tomorrow
There are some of us who are very optimistic about the future, and some of us who aren’t. The difference is clear – pessimistic people believe the best days are a thing of the past and anything new is not as good as it was. Optimistic people see the future as an opportunity to be and to do better, even if every day that passes means we are one day closer to the end.
Are you optimistic or pessimistic? Being optimistic about the future means you don’t only adapt to change but you embrace it. You believe there is always a chance to make it better. It also means you are confident (or naive) enough to think you and the people around you are capable of improving the present to live an improved future.
Entrepreneurs and artists are optimistic. They believe anything is possible, no matter how hard or impossible the challenge is. They see the light at the end of the tunnel, and they are able to keep pushing forward failure after failure because they believe in a dream and in a better future. The future is full of opportunity, failures, and some successes.
When you are pessimistic about the future you find it harder to try on new things. Pessimistic people might adapt to change but definitely don’t embrace it, they can’t. If you are pessimistic you believe good things happen only to lucky people, and have a hard time realising that good things happen to people who are persistent regardless of multiple failures. You are afraid of change, and hardly take any risks, you are stuck in the good ‘ol days, you live in the past. The future represents fewer opportunities, and fewer successes.
The truth is that future will happen and tomorrow is coming again, and again (I am an optimist). Thankfully, most of us can choose the future we want to live in, and how we want to feel about it. And while being over optimistic can be a problem, I’d rather take that risk than living my life complaining about what it was, what it is and what could have been.
In the end, we all live and die, and the difference in being an optimist and a pessimist is how much you enjoyed the ride.
