Travel Tales: Turning Challenges into Memories
I’m currently sitting in a lounge at LAX airport, right in the middle of my trip to Mexico to see my family. The first part of the trip was good; I had a nice flight. I watched a movie called “Champions”. It’s about a coach who’s fired and then put in charge of a basketball team of athletes with special needs. It was a great movie that even made me cry a bit.
I like to travel because it changes my routine, but it often brings its own set of problems. Over time, I’ve learned to be more patient and understanding. I’ve also realized that most issues are just minor inconveniences. So, I stay calm and keep going.
I’m working on a project about travel and how to make it better. I’m not sure what all it will cover, but the main idea is to make traveling as easy and straightforward as possible. If you’re interested in this idea, you can sign up here. When the website or app is ready, I’ll let you know. The goal is to help us see travel, even the challenging parts, in a new light.
My earliest travel memory is from when my family took us to Disneyland in California. It was the first time I flew on a plane, and I was 10 years old. I don’t remember much about how we got there, just that we flew from Mexico to California and then drove. What I do remember is the excitement of the plane ride, the thrill of going to Disney, and the delicious chocolate milk at my aunt’s house in California. I’m sure there were issues, but to us kids, it was all fun. Even now, it’s one of my favorite memories.
Travel stress often comes from things not going as planned, like delayed flights or problems with hotel rooms. As kids, we don’t notice those things because we’re too excited. But as adults, we get upset over these problems. However, whether these things go as planned or not shouldn’t affect our overall experience. Instead, we can look at travel mishaps as part of the journey, making it even more memorable.
I’m heading to Mexico with an open mind, ready to enjoy time with my parents and family. If my flight is delayed, or if the hotel isn’t exactly as I expected, that’s okay. Those are minor issues and I won’t let them stop me from enjoying the trip and spending time with my family. Problems are a part of travel. It’s just how it goes.
